A multi-talented model & great goddess of African fashion - Sifa Bizimana

An idiosyncratic and multi-talented force — Sifa Bizimana (18), from Pretoria — is emerging as a great goddess of African fashion. The aspiring model and fashion designer, Sifa, has an extensive background in fashion from the sewing course she studied. This cemented her as an all rounder in regards to modeling, designing and performance arts.

Since the start of her career, Sifa has been conceptualizing, organizing and trying so hard to create a collection of distinctive styled garments. She found her collection so appealing, that she ended up getting motivated to keep creating, which morphed her into an avid fashion designer. Her introduction to the modeling scene came after the obsession she had with her own designs.

Sifa Bizimana has been involved in a handful of projects where she has diversified her fashion style as a whole and also learned some few things in the process. During this realization, she has been riding the train of creativity and uniqueness, which has caught a lot of people by surprise. Question and Answer interview with Sifa Bizimana (Q & A)

1. Why did you choose to be a model? And Why do you want to pursue a career in fashion?
A. Growing up everyone would tell me that I should do modelling because of my body but honestly I only saw modelling as a medium of art, until I actually fell in love with it, so that's when I finally decided to pursue a career in this field.

2. How would you define your personal style?
A. My style is a mixture of simplicity and creativity, very artistic and chic.

3. Have you attended fashion modeling courses or any related courses?
A. Yes, I did a short course in fashion and sewing.

4. What is fashion for you? And What do you love about being a fashion designer?
A. For me fashion is art, and art is about expression. What I love most about fashion is the fact that you get to express yourself in an everyday scenario with what you wear.

5. What is your greatest strength as a model?
A. My greatest strength is my confidence. Once I step in front of the camera, the only thing that gets me working is my confidence.

6. What are your goals as a model & designer? How do you see yourself progress in this field?
A. My goal as a model is to reach a professional level and doing runways at big branded shows. As a designer, my goal is to be mentioned amongst the greatest designers of Africa. I see myself progressing in this 2 fields because I'm open minded and always eager to learn from the experienced.


7. What sorts of settings/clothes/brands do you prefer to shoot for, or wear?
A. I love everything and anyone that's why I do not box myself into a specific setting
or clothes. Honestly, I go wherever the wind takes me when it comes to fashion.


8. Who and which things are the inspiration while creating any design or doing photoshoots?
A. My inspiration when it comes to designing and doing photoshoots depends on the vibe I'm going with. At times, I draw inspiration from contemporary art.

9. How would you describe your work ethic?
A. I am a firm believer of "You only rest when you die", so hard work and consistency is how I would describe my work ethic.

10. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
A. I eat nutritiously, stay away from saturated carbs and soft drinks. I exercise 5 days a week at home and consume up to 3 litres of water a day.
