Lissar (19) - One of the 'Reflector Dot Rap Contest' top 15

Introducing a drakaina with a competitive spirit — Anelisa Sweetness James (19) known by most as Lissar — a passionate rapper from Kraaifontein whose biggest goal is to empower women and show them that it is possible to break-through in a male dominated industry. Lissar's music is a fusion of different sounds, as she can go from Trap to TrapSoul in a second, or just mixing Rap and RnB together to create an amazing display of musical talent. Anelisa aka 'Your Highness', is an IT student who works hard to balance her studies with her music. Often at times, she has to juggle late night performances with early morning classes. She has performed in major stages such as at Artscape Theatre, Baxter Theatre, Makukhanye Theatres, Klein Libertus Theatre and many more including the Reflector Dot Rap Contest.

Lissar has just recently dropped two singles; one entitled ‘Reality Check’ and the other one entitled ‘Watch Me’ which are both creating waves in the streets of Cape town.

1.) Who are you and what do you represent? (tell us about yourself)
A. I am Anelisa Sweetness James, aka Lissar (Your Highness) and I uniquely represent myself as a brand. I'm on a mission of putting my Township 'Kraaifontein(Kcity)' on the map.

2.) What makes you different from the other rappers who are participating in this rap contest ?
A. First of all I speak my mind, and I am not afraid to express how I feel regardless of my gender.

3.) Why do you deserve to win this contest?
A. I deserve to win because I am very unique and passionate about rap music. I'm the next big thing, that's why I gotta take this crown.

4.) Would you say that you are a good role model?
A. Yes, because I inspire a lot of people with my music, especially females who think they're not fit enough for this male dominated industry. The game is not fair on female rappers, so I'm here to rectify that, and in the process I wish to motivate and inspire both male and female to go against all odds to make their visions come true.

5.) What goal do you want to have achieved in 2021/2022?
A. I want to be recognized by the mainstream industry, so that I can be able to collaborate with successful artists.

6.) What was the hardest sacrifice you had to make when preparing for your Round 2 entry video?
A. Getting out of my comfort zone was my hardest sacrifice.

7.) Who or What inspired your Round 2 verse?
A. Woman’s month was the main inspiration behind my verse, hence I was speaking for all the females who are aspiring to be in this industry.

8.) What is your favorite part about this contest?
A. My favorite part is being given a platform to express myself and my art to a wider audience. Platforms like these are rare to find!

9.) Apart from yourself, who else do you think has the potential to win this competition?
A. I'd say MashKlk

10.) If you could describe this experience in 3 - 5 lines, what would you say?
A. This experiences has been a blast because competing against a lot of talented rappers can be quite challenging and fun at the same time. It suprisingly gave me a boost when I heard that I was in the top 15 and showed that my hard work was finally paying off. If I had the opportunity to do it all over again I definitely would.
